Mission Statement
Alert Service Dogs is committed to providing family members with diabetic or seizure medical alert needs, the best possible medical alert dog at the best possible cost. We work with families as part of team and are always available throughout the process. Families can rely on us to always be there to teach, guide, explain, listen, and understand the difficulties they face.
History
Alert Service Dogs was founded in 2007 by Jeannie Upton to serve the families of children with diabetes or seizures. ASD is committed to delivering well adjusted hard-working dogs to help protect those children and ease the burden of their families.
Training Methodology
Our dogs start their lives and have their initial training with the very families they are intended to serve. This early training within the intended family not only creates that life-long bond, but also greatly improves the dogs ability to alert on the intended medical condition. During the first few months their training includes house manners, obedience, socialization, and of course scent alert. Whether their specialty is diabetes or seizure their over-all obedience and demeanor are critical to their effectiveness in their contribution to your family.
We will also deliver a completely trained animal upon request, though the expense is much higher. It will receive all the same socialization in one of our trainer's homes, complete with children and other pets.
Our dogs are trained and socialized in an environment similar to owners homes, including children and other pets.
